Prepping the Nursery

The nursery is finally ready to move in. When we bought our house in 2006, this was always just “the spare room” which we assumed would someday be a nursery. It was the only room we never painted and had, up until a few days ago lavender walls with sparkly butterfly border. While this was adorable, it’s not exactly my taste, nor is it appropriate for a boy’s room.
The prepping, included scrubbing all the wallpaper glue off which wasn’t much fun. The most effective method I found was a concoction of warm water, dish soap and white vinegar. The actual painting was completed by Dan the man and I think he did a pretty awesome job. Hardly any touch ups were needed after. So, Henry’s room, donned in “Velvet Sky” by Behr is ready to go! We should actually get the bed shipment by the end of the week! See pic here: http://www.target.com/p/delta-bentley-s-series-4-in-1-crib/-/A-14371974. It’s a convertible bed, so hopefully we’ll be able to use it for a while. Although, we might have to modify the safety features depending on his needs as he gets older.
Overall, we’re going with a sailing/nautical theme. I’m looking for ideas for the curtains (for window in the picture) and I’d like to do some sort of mural on the wall. My super-artsy sister-in-law Nicole will be coming down next month to make that happen:) I’m not finding a lot of ideas online so I guess we’re going to have to wing-it.
I’m also looking for some inexpensive marine signal flags to spell out his name (http://www.maineharbors.com/flag.htm). Dunno if there are any super crafty sewers out there who can give a girl a hook up. Unfortunately, my skills are limited to pillows and curtains so far. I am going to attempt to sew a cushion for the window seat and a matching bed skirt for the crib. So, wish me luck there.
In closing, I just saw this on the Pottery Barn website and almost peed my pants. I think it’s a sign:)
