8 Weeks

Update … Henry is officially approved for medicaid!! After all the confusion last week we got his enrollment package and card in the mail Saturday. We enrolled him yesterday and he’s now going to be attending Caregiver Services Inc. (CSI) for daycare. It’s a Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care program (PPEC) for medically complex children. Both Dan and I feel like this will be a better environment for him in his first year of life (and possibly beyond) with all the surgeries he has coming up. It is set up more like a pediatric care unit/therapy center vs. the traditional daycare setting at DLC. We are still holding onto that center in the future when he gets a little older and more social.

On a not so positive note, Dan and I observed what we believe to be seizure activity. Yesterday he had two episodes in the morning, both lasting less than a minute and today I observed one episode. I captured one of them on video which I’m going to send to his pediatrician. She doesn’t want to put him on any anti-seizure medicine unless absolutely necessary and I’m praying it won’t be. Lots of prayers that the seizures (if that’s what they are) will stop or at the very least won’t progress. It’s pretty scary:(

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

Update: Henry’s doc prescribed him Keppra, an anti-seizure medicine. The side effects are supposed to be pretty minimal, so we’re hoping this will stop the seizures. It’s so hard watching him go through that.
