Baby Shower

June 10, 2013 by kruckr

I began typing my 36 week update and realized there was just too much to write about, so I’m going to break this up into two posts. First I’ll start with the Nursery. Things are about 90% completed in that department, although I have decided to redecorate the bathroom next to Henry’s room in a nautical theme as well because I have too many decorations to fit in his room now:)

Now, for the grand tour and shout-outs. Starting with the window, I made the curtains, seat cushion, pillow and crib skirt myself. I won’t post any close-ups because my sewing skills are pretty sub par, but I like them better than what I could find in the stores. The rocking chair was an amazing garage sale find for $25! The crib was purchased by my grandparents (netted bumper, sheet and blanket were shower gifts). The sail boat mobile hanging to the right of the crib was made by my sister-in-law Siobhan as well as the blanket on the crib. The dresser/changing table (Thank you DIanna) and accessories were also shower gifts and the “wheel” on the wall above was something that I put together. The grand masterpiece, the mural, was painted by another sister-in-law, Nicole. The shelves and most of the toys were gifts. Some of the books and stuffed animals were things I bought for my classroom at some point. Henry already has a pretty diverse library and that will only continue since both his parents are book nerds. I think that covers everything for now … but there are a few things I still need to add, so I will most-likely post a few more pics before we bring him home.

Ahoy! It’s a Boy!

Now onto the baby shower extravaganza. As someone who has hosted my share of baby showers, I can appreciate the time and attention that goes into making each one gender and theme specific. My good friend Heather did an excellent job at both. Everything from the food to the cake and decorations were perfect. I will let the pictures do the rest of the talking.

Heather, master (or is it mistress?:) of ceremonies

ImageOf course, one of the things I was most excited about was an organizer … I can only hope Henry shares my need for sorting and filing.

In closing, I will say that preparing to be a parent can be an overwhelming experience. I cannot believe how fortunate we are to have so many friends and family members who are so generous, kind and supportive. There are no amount of thank you cards that can express how grateful we are about the constant love and support we have received. Henry is one lucky little guy:)

  1. You are beautiful sis! I so so so wish we could be there with you, Dan and Henry. I am hoping we can visit sometime this year. Did you get the tea that I sent?
